An Introduction - My New Year Resolution Made Early

I am not the best writer, nor am I a technological blogging guru, but I feel deeply compelled to share my story and journey with anyone else who might be interested in living an Intentionally Faith Filled Life.

Together my husband and I have five children. My teenage stepson lives solely with his mother, although we have joint-custody, and hasn't seen his siblings since July 4, 2011. Don't worry, that's not what this blog is about, so I will leave that story there, until I share with you later why I pray for him AND his mother often.
Our other Littles range in age from 8 yrs. old to 9 months. We have been blessed with two boys and two girls, who fill our lives with joy in ways I never could have imagined... and of course, challenge us too ;) I can assure you I will share more on them later!

Our oldest two children are what led me to my New Year Resolution and ultimately this blog! Our 8 yr. old and 7 yr. old boy & girl are preparing to take their 1st Communion and 1st Reconciliation sacraments in the New Year, which is both incredibly exciting and intimidating. Let me explain...until recently, as in a month ago, we attended Mass on an occasional basis, at minimum attending the specific days of obligation, like Christmas, Easter, etc. We occasionally said a prayer at dinner and although I taught our children to say a prayer at bedtime, we didn't really discuss scripture, God, Mass, you get the idea...
It's so sad and strange to me now, to look back and think that at the time, I thought I was doing a good job raising our children to have faith filled lives, when so clearly we weren't. How could I have been so blind, I'll tell you -- I confess, I didn't want to see...we are busy, just like everyone else and I didn't want to take the time, I didn't want to invest, I was only willing to do what was convenient.

About a month ago, our two CCD goers came home one night, asking me how to pray the rosary. I confess, I haven't prayed the rosary since 2004! I couldn't remember, as hard as I tried and I certainly didn't want to give my children miss information and for the life of me I couldn't find my Rosary Prayer Book!! I took it as sign, a direct call from God to do BETTER!! It was that night, Wed., Nov. 18, 2015, to be exact, that I decided to change, to deliberately create and live a faith filled life for myself and my family and with that My New Year Resolution was born...to read the Bible, every book of it, from cover to cover!

So, here I am, blogging my Bible Reading journey and faithful tidbits discovered along the way, in hopes of one day sharing this chronicle with our children.
God Bless,
Laura
